U Da Man!

A friend of mine wanted to do something special for her mans birthday this year.
After tossing around some ideas the topic of motorcycles came up.
Turns out she's a dirt rider from way back. I remembered this shot I saw on the wall in the Harley Shop and described it to her. She was totally into it.
Cool!
I know a guy who knows a guy who's brothers wife's uncle has a shop. And I think his sister's boyfriend has a bike. (As these things usually go) I'll see if we can use them.

Being one who likes to have the details work out before the day of the shoot, I made arrangements with the uncle of the wife's brother of a friend of a friend to use the shop along with the sister's boyfriends bike to do some test shots so that I could trouble shoot the trouble I knew I was going to have.
Out of the three of us there that afternoon Tyson was the only one willing to man up and have his picture taken so that I could see what the light was doing.
Thanks buddy. U Da Man!

On the day of the shoot my client had to cancel (these things sometimes happen) and I was forced to reschedule ....... with her anyway. I was set up and ready to go and quite excited about the whole thing so I phoned another girl that had worked with me before. She came and modeled for the afternoon and thats where the first shot for this entry came from.

The lovely Tracy met up with me the following week for her shoot. That girl could turn it on! We got several great shots that made it really hard to decide on just one.

Her husband still thanks me every time I see him.

I Know What You Did Last Summer!

Its Wedding season again! As photographers everywhere grab onto the train of Bridezillas dress and do their usual run of routine wedding photos, I typically run in the other direction. This year was different. My first clients came to me in March of this year and asked if I'd photograph their wedding. When I asked how they heard of me they gave the fallowing explanation, " We found your website online and when we went through it you had 'NO' wedding photos." Then they said, "You can do whatever you want at our wedding so long as you don't make it look like a wedding. Will you photograph our wedding for us?" Ummm... let me see, No expectations of what wedding photography should look like and I can do whatever I want.... I'm in!

My idea was to take pictures of all those in attendace and make them their wedding album from that body of work. I wanted each picture to capture something unique of the subjects personality. And I wanted to do this on the fly with as short an interaction between subject and photographer as possible.

It was a hit. They loved it. Everyone felt like Rock Stars with the "BIG" lights on them and all the attention of the camera man. I was able to get people to relax while keeping a steady workflow and I made some great pictures.

Having hit my wedding quota early this year I was looking forward to getting on with my summer when out of the blue the phone rang with another wedding request.

My Second Wedding phoned me on a Friday afternoon. That conversation went like this:

Good afternoon AZ Photo

Yes, Hello. Do you photograph weddings?

Yes, when do you need a photographer for?

Tomorrow. Is that too short a notice for you?

It just so happened that I was in town for a previously scheduled wedding that was to take place on that Sunday and so I spent one weekend doing two events where nobody had any expectations of me (other then making them look like rock stars) and I could shoot however I wanted. It was every photographers dream weekend. I was in heaven.
